  • The LRTP is a federally mandated document aimed at addressing transportation issues and needs for a minimum of 20 years. Its purpose is to encourage and facilitate the safe and efficient management, operation, and development of a cost-feasible intermodal transportation system, catering to the mobility requirements of both people and freight.

  • The LRTP is being updated to reflect the changes in our community’s needs and priorities, and resources. As the Sarasota/Manatee Area grows and evolves, so do our transportation infrastructure and requirements. The update ensures that our plan remains relevant to new demographics, economic conditions, and environmental concerns.

  • LRTP’s are typically updated every four to five years. This regular update cycle is mandated to ensure the plan remains responsive to changing transportation needs, demographic shifts, and policy changes.

  • Public involvement is a crucial aspect of the LRTP update process, ensuring that the plan reflects the diverse needs and priorities of the community.
