The LRTP is a federally mandated document aimed at addressing transportation issues and needs for a minimum of 20 years. Its purpose is to encourage and facilitate the safe and efficient management, operation, and development of a cost-feasible intermodal transportation system, catering to the mobility requirements of both people and freight.

The LRTP is being updated to reflect the changes in our community’s needs and priorities, and resources. As the Sarasota/Manatee Area grows and evolves, so do our transportation infrastructure and requirements. The update ensures that our plan remains relevant to new demographics, economic conditions, and regional factors.
